Recently, I made a map of the busiest cargo ports in Europe. This time, we’re going to look at the 100 busiest passenger airports in Europe. The number of passengers per airport includes departing, arriving and transiting passengers. Transiting passengers are only counted once and are only included if they left on a different flight and air plane than the one they arrived on.

The busiest airports are probably airports that are familiar with most of you and airports you might have been to yourself. Istanbul Airport had the largest number of passengers in 2022. 64.5 million passengers. London Heathrow is not far behind with 61.6 million passengers. Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (57.5 million passengers) and Amsterdam-Schiphol (52.5 million passengers) are the only other airports in Europe with more than 50 million passengers.

Data for Russia, Ukraine and Belarus was not available.
