What’s the median personal wealth per adult around Asia?

On this map we can see how much personal wealth the average adult in Asia has. The wealth is shown in US Dollars and includes both financial and non-financial wealth. Non-financial wealth mostly consists of land and real estate.
The reasons this map shows the median and not the average, is that an average is usually skewed by the extremely wealthy. This results in an amount that’s far higher than the wealth of most adults. In case of the median, it means that half of the population has a higher wealth than the number shown and half has a lower wealth.
People in Hong Kong ($202,406) have by far the highest median wealth in Asia. Almost double that of the number 2 and 3 in Asia, Taiwan ($108,247) and Japan ($103,681).
There is a massive difference in median wealth in Asia. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Qatar all have a median wealth of over $90,000. The next country, Israel ($77,604), is not too far behind them. But the countries behind Israel and Kuwait ($41,605), have less than half the median wealth of Asia’s top 6 countries.
Of course this can partially be explained by the height of the average wages and the cost of living in these countries. However, there are still some significant differences between countries that have a similar cost of living and GDP per capita.
The lowest median wealth can be found in Syria ($680), Laos ($1,366) and Yemen ($1,406).
