We can see that the expected years of schooling in South America increases as one goes south. The difference between the lowest and highest country is only 5 years. Keep in mind though, that this doesn’t necessarily say something about the quality of the education.

Argentina has the highest expected years of schooling in South America, 17.9 years. Uruguay (16.8) is second and Chile (16.7) is third.

The lowest numbers can be found in Guyana (12.5), Venezuela (12.8) and Paraguay (13.0).
