At the time of posting this map, the war in Ukraine has been going on for more than a year (Although one could say it’s actually been going on for 9 years (2014)). In the 98th Standard Eurobarometer, one year after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, people were asked whether they think Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the security of the EU. On this map we can see the percentage of people that agreed with that statement.

In all EU countries, the majority of people agreed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the security of the EU. Bulgaria (63%) has the lowest percentage in the EU. Followed by Romania (69%). In all other European countries, at least 70% agreed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the security of the EU.

In countries like Poland and Lithuania, the vast majority of people (89%) thinks that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the security of the EU. These two countries are close to Ukraine and haven’t had a lot of fond experience with Russia in the past.

The highest percentages can be found in the Netherlands (90%), Finland (91%), Malta (92%) and Sweden (95%).
