Where Europe was divided between pork and chicken, South America is divided by beef and chicken. Most of the South American countries prefer chicken, but Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela prefer beef.

For Argentina and Uruguay, beef comes as no surprise. Both countries are famous for their high quality beef and their cuisine surrounding beef. Argentinians are also the 3rd biggest consumers of meat and the global number one when it comes to beef consumption. Uruguay also rank very high globally when it comes to beef consumption.

The data comes from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The map is based on the average meat consumption per capita per year.

Okay, I don’t much agree on thu article. Argentina and Uruguay, yes may be the largest consumption of meats, but that does not define quality. I lived in Argentina and visited Uruguay many times. Both countries are very similar with meat cuts. But after eating a picanha in Brazil and other Brazilian steak. I would never rank any other country. Arg and Uruguay enjoy their meat over cooked almost dry. Brazil is juicy and pink inside. Perfection to my opinion.
