Although Japan has a reputation for having a very high life expectancy, Singapore is the country in Asia with the highest life expectancy. Japan still ranks as one of the highest in the world. The Japanese archipelago of Okinawa is a so called ‘blue zone’. One of the few places on earth where a significantly larger number of people reach the age of 100.

The countries with the highest life expectancy are not surprisingly also the most developed countries in Asia. The life expectancy in Singapore, Macao, Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, South Korea and Taiwan is much higher than the rest of Asia.

At the bottom, we see mostly developed countries or countries torn by war, like Afghanistan and Yemen.
