We looked before at which European men and women are the tallest in Europe. On this map, we’re going to take a closer look at Africa and see which African men and women are the tallest.

According to data from the NCD-RisC, Senegalese women are the tallest in Africa, at an average height of 164.5 cm. They are just ahead of Cabo Verdian (163.1cm) women and Libyan women (162.6 cm). Tunisian men are the tallest in Africa at 176.9 cm. Libyan and Moroccan men are the second tallest (176.4 cm) in Africa .

Women in Madagascar (153.1 cm) are the shortest in Africa, closely followed by Burundi (155.1 cm) and Mozambique (155.4 cm).

The shortest men in Africa are from Mozambique (164.3 cm), followed by Madagascar (165.2 cm) and Mauritania and Liberia (165.5 cm).
