This map shows for each country, what sport they perform best in at the Summer Olympics. The best sport is determined by looking at the country’s overall medal table. This works exactly the same as the medal table for each individual Olympics. The sport in which a country has won the most gold medals, is considered their best sport. If they have more than one sport with the same amount of gold medals, or never won a gold medal at all, we look at the number of silver medals and after that at the number of bronze medals.
