The 2024 Paris Olympics just finished. A great moment to look at all the countries that ever won a gold medal. On this map, you can see the countries that won a gold medal at both the winter and summer Olympics or at either the summer Olympics or winter Olympics. Although there are quite a few countries that won a gold medal at the summer Olympics, but none at the winter Olympics, there is only one country that has won gold at the winter Olympics, but never at the summer Olympics: Liechtenstein.

Furthermore, I’ve also highlighted on this map the countries that never won any medal at all.

After the 2024 Paris Olympics, there are four countries that won their first medal(s) ever. Albania won 2 bronze medals in wrestling, Cabo Verde one bronze in boxing, Dominica won one gold medal in athletics and Saint Lucia won a gold and silver medal in athletics.
